I found this pretty Katydid who looks just like a green leaf on a light rainy day upon the dry field . I am not sure which Katydid it is ... my California species picture has red eyes and it looks not quite as angular as this one . Thanks for any comments , Beth

Angle-winged, But Which One?
I think it looks like an angle-winged katydid too, and according to range maps, you've got two species out your way, the greater angle-wing (Microcentrum rhombifolium) and something called (not surprisingly) the California angle-wing (Microcentrum californicum). Lots of stuff on the greater species available, but I haven't a clue about what the other even looks like. Hopefully an expert will weigh in at this point and take it further...

Edited to add: Heh. Your comment about your local katydids having red eyes just belatedly flipped a switch in my feeble brain and made me think of this cute photo of a katy putting on an 'angry face'...
