Size: 1.5 inches
Trying to identify the type of grasshopper this is for a school project due tomorrow! Yikes please help.

Conocephalus strictus
The short wings and the ovipositor that exceeds the body in length point to C. strictus, the Straight-lanced Meadow Katydid.

It's actually a Katydid in the family Tettigoniidae. I'd say the genus is Conocephalus, but I certainly can't ID it species. It's definitely something in the subfamily Conocephalinae
