Ares Metalmark - Apodemia ares - male

Ares Metalmark - Apodemia ares - Male
Chiricahua Mtns., nr. Rustler Park, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
August 11, 2007
Identified by the lack of a broad dark mark on leading edge of wing and presence of submarginal marks on forewing. Compare to Zela Metalmark (Emesis zela).

Interesting creature
The graphite color inside the wings is intriguing. I enjoy metalmarks, but we don't have much variety in Southern California.

Thanks for posting this and the Zela.
