1.3 miles NW of Camp Wood, Edwards County, Texas, USA

This specimen has been identified by BOLD as Catabenoides terminellus, solid, and placed in Bin: ABW8287 along with a number of specimens from Arizona. It is identified as TXLEP372-17 in the public database. When Chris Schmidt was here, he also identified specimens that looked like this as C. terminellus making me think it primarily has a Western range.

Bin: ABW8287
There are only 3 other specimens in Bin: ABW8287, 2 from AZ and 1 from TX. Your other C. terminellus samples, BOLD Sequence ID: TXLEP401-17 and and TXLEP411-17, shown at BG here and here, are in a different BIN, AAB4195, with over 30 other specimens from Costa Rica to CA, TX and FL. I would guess that your specimen TXLEP372-17 is a species near C. terminellus, possibly undescribed.

Catabenoides sp. from Edwards Co., TX
Looks like there are two species of Catabenoides at Ann's site.

I had couple collecting nights at Ann's site in March 2017. I got four specimens of Catabenoides and they are not the same species as series of specimens I have from SE Arizona and New Mexico. Genitalia of these 4 specimens from TX differ well from those of specimens from AZ and NM. I identified specimens from Arizona and New Mexico as C. terminellus. So specimens I got from Ann's site are different species.

How very interesting, Jan. I have quit studying them. Looks like I will have to start collecting them again!

Do you want more specimens?
