At the risk of being wrong
I'm contradicting myself and moving these to G. gorgone. This is from far enough north to be where this species should be common, but more than that, the head of C. gorgone is black, while that of C. lacinia is supposed to be orange (according to all the published descriptions I've seen). I've raised both species many times, but I can't remember the color of the head on all the C. lacinia larvae I've seen, so am going to go with the books. Giant Ragweed is a favorite host of C. gorgone, not sure about C. lacinia.

Chlosyne lacinia
I haven't got any to compare directly, but I'm pretty sure these are the Bordered Patch. Regardless of wing pattern, C. gorgone and C. lacinia are very close relatives (both would be subgenus Charidryas - basically defined as including the Composite feeders of the genus), and their larvae are very similar.

The leaf looks like Giant Ragweed
Ambrosia trifida, so the Composite feeding seems to fit!
