This specimen belongs to the Great Plain population, characterized by darker scape (rather than red) and larger size.

According to Chemsack (1963), in Colorado are two populations: the western one (Great Basin series) and the eastern one (Great Plain series), which are separated by Jackson, Grand, Summit, Lake and Chaffee Co.
