Flower feeder, milkweed - Sparganothis sulfureana

Flower feeder, milkweed - Sparganothis sulfureana
Heritage Valley, Allamakee County, Iowa, USA
August 1, 2017
07/12/17 While walking a remnant prairie, I noted shriveled flowers of a prairie milkweed species (possibly green milkweed, Asclepias viridiflora); looking closer I found a lep larva hiding in them, and collected the larva and dead flowers in an attempt to rear the larva. It's unclear to me whether the larva had caused the flowers to wilt.

Larva fed a smorgasbord of flowers, mainly milkweed and clover

Adult emerged a few weeks later (emergence date unrecorded; estimated here as 1 August)
