Right middle leg of male Lucanus capreolus (30 mm body length), showing characteristics of family Lucanidae:
  • tarsal formula 5-5-5 (5 segments, i.e., tarsomeres on each tarsus)
  • tarsal claws equal in size
One can also see the yellow femora characteristic of this species. Date corrected 11/17/19!
