Gnorimoschema nanulum - Hodges #1993.1

Gnorimoschema nanulum - Hodges #1993.1
114 Clarke Place, Helena, Lewis and Clark County, Montana, USA
July 16, 2017
Size: small
Attracted to blacklights. Elevation 4319'

Moved to Gnorimoschemini
Moved from Metzneria.

I think this is more similar to examples in Gnorimoschema and possibly Keiferia based on wing shape and labial palpi. Check out BOLD images of G. nanulum and G. tunicatum.

Thanks for your work Steve.
Thanks for your work Steve. There are several photos of nanulum that closely match this specimen.

Not sure
I was suggesting that you look at those species so you could see why I thought the tribe Gnorimoschemini was more reasonable not that they were the most likely. I did check Povolny (1998) here which listed 13 new species of which nanulum and tunicatum are included. I dug a little deeper and found that nanulum would be darker and tunicatum would be broader winged. Neither seem to have the orange streaks. I do see that segregatum does though and the description is better in general. Check BOLD, especially sample ID MZH-LEP00000015. The type locality is good too, Great Sand Hills, SK.

But again, these are just guesses. These critters really need to be dissected.

Nice reference to G. tunicatu
Nice reference to G. tunicatum. Thank you.

Thanks Steve, I'll take a loo
