Similar to, but probably not similar enough:


August 3, 2017: a live dryinid wasp in the container

October 1, 2017: several black mites but nothing else

That was my 'guess'
but there are so many willow gall midge galls.

Yes there are
But this one is pretty distinctive, as far as I know no other willow gall has the apical beaklike growth.
