Syrphid Fly species - Eupeodes
Cliffside Lane, The Ridge, Fair Oaks , Sacramento County, California, USA

Size: 1/2 inch, maybe
Observed after having had lunch in the flowering plants on the south side of the swimming pool in the gated community that I live in. I observed 2 different syrphid flies today with this one being the larger of the 2. May be in the Eupeodes genus.
