One of the carpenter bees? - Xylocopa sonorina - Female
Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA
March 22, 2017
There were bees all over the Eve's necklace trees at White Rock lake Winsted parking lot, late morning. Sending you 2 individuals that are similar, yet different. Are they male and female of the same species? Will send the 2nd one next but not linked.

Xylocopa female
Appears to be X. varipuncta but I'm not aware of confirmed records from so far E

interesting
White Rock lake is known for rare birds and rare turtles and one rare butterfly that I personally know of, so why not bees. There is a row of 10 to 15 of those trees that all go into profuse bloom at the same time, a powerful attraction. I checked and have shots the week after this one of more bees that look the same as this one. Have not reached that date yet in my processing. Is there a part of the bee that needs to be seen to make the identification?
