Chauliognathus sp. - Chauliognathus obscurus

Chauliognathus sp. - Chauliognathus obscurus
Yetman Trail, Tucson Mts., Pima County, Arizona, USA
August 29, 2007
Wonder if this is a species of Chauliognathus distinct from either discus or marginatus?? Anybody out there know or have and idea?

Moved
Moved from Chauliognathus.

yup, new one! C. obscurus
using the key to the genus, this keys easily to C. obscurus Schaeffer - "Elytra black, lateral margins narrowly and epipleurae (yellow) to middle or apical third, pronotum (yellow) with or without broad median logitudinal black stripe". Distribution: AZ.

Great find! Keep looking for this genus - most of the remaining species not in the Guide come from AZ, including C. arizonensis Another new species for BugGuide :)
