Ethmia prattiella - Ethmia

Ethmia prattiella - Ethmia
29.797499, -100.998049, Val Verde County, Texas, USA
December 18, 2017

Moved from ID Request.

The markings on E. prattiella are usually dots, not lines. Unfortunately your photograph is not really a square lateral.

I think it is probably but would like confirmation.

I looked at longimaculella, and saw that it has two black spots on each side of the thorax, while pratiella has three, same as this moth. Is that significant? On this Ethmia the spots on the anterior body and some on the dorsum are round. But those lateral spots are definitely elongated, some into a lateral stripe. You are right, it's not a good photo for much other analysis, but the little guy flew off before I could get any more images. Thanks, Ann...
