First time I've seen one like this. It was quite small and is on a bearded iris flower petal. Only shot I got that was in focus enough. Found in the afternoon.

they get a bad reputation here because they eat entomological specimens, but I always this it was an attractive little critter

Yep, that looks right. Lots of variation in that genus, will a species verification be impossible from this photo?

 
It could be A. verbasci...
...but I'll let the experts make that call.
