Tiger Swallowtail
Looks more like a Black Form female Tiger Swallowtail to me. Compare:

I don't see any Eastern Tiger Swallowtails listed as being in your state, and I don't see any pictures of Black Form female Western Tiger Swallowtails in the guide, either. So, I'm not sure if it's just an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail that wandered past the edge of it's normal range or whether it's a Black Form female Western Tiger Swallowtail, which the guide doesn't mention if there is such a thing or not. I guess we need more Butterfly information. Maybe your specimen will set the record straight!

Black Swallowtail?
Thanks for your comments. I made a mistake in clicking on the state.
North Carolina it should be. Still I think that you are right with the Tiger Swallowtail.

North Carolina
If this picture is from North Carolina, then the Butterfly would be an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.

Yesterday the caption was changed. Thank you.
