Physocyclus globosus - male

Physocyclus globosus - Male
Vero Beach, Indian River County, Florida, USA
Adult male capturing the araneophagic ecribellate web raiding Platnickina mneon. In a natural environment it may be the other way around.
Here the mneon was given as prey and out of its element making it an easy target. Both are pest species, the mneon more so as it preys primarily on indigenous spiders.
Both species introduced in North America and abundant in FL.

P. globosus readily preys on ants, eating many pest species of ant, including the fire ant, big headed ant, pharaoh ant, etc. although they probably make little to no impact on established colonies.
