Spider - Hogna baltimoriana

Spider - Hogna baltimoriana
Onalaska, WI, La Crosse County/Western Wisconsin County, Wisconsin, USA
September 30, 2007
My husband found this in our garage, as he tried capturing it, it jumped up at him. This is the largest of its kind that we've seen. There have been others which spin webs on the siding of our house and hide between the siding during the day.

Not an expert
Not that I have any real idea, just pointing out the pattern, some wolf spiders have a similar pattern on the back.

ummm...
Not sure... But that looks a bit like a fiddle pattern on the back... Hopefully someone like Jeff can tell you for sure what it is...

...
I hope you aren't implying this could be a brown recluse.

No.
This is definitely NOT a brown spider. I'm pretty confident it is a lycosid, and commented so on another image....This is not a dangerously venomous species.
