Brown narrow-winged moth - Tornos - male

Brown narrow-winged moth - Tornos - Male
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
February 14, 2018
This moth had long narrow wings and prominent feathery antennae. The tip of his abdomen was interesting in that it had two colors, had a white "donut" on each side, and appeared open and tubular.

.
6486 – Tornos scolopacinaria is my best guess. There are three species that have been reported in Alabama and this one is the most common AND the other two have only been recodrded in the coastal areas. These are seldom placed to species from photographs and often require dissection or DNA.
