Fuzzy purple springtails

Fuzzy purple springtails
White Rocks on Cumberland Mountain on the Kentucky/Virginia border, Harlan County, Kentucky, USA
January 25, 2018
Size: 1.5 mm
These cute, purple, fuzzy springtails were sliding and jumping around on top of a semi-frozen puddle on Cumberland Mountain (White Rocks) on the Virginia/Kentucky Line, USA, on January 25, 2018. They are about 1.5 mm in size (tiny!) I have been told that it is possibly "Family Isotomidae in the Entomobryomorpha superfamily), possibly Desoria sp. at the very least, quite certainly from the Entomobrymorpha superfamily, the "slender springtails"

I do like the lovely way you talk about Collembola, Tina! :)
