Wrack-heap Fly - Coelopa frigida

Wrack-heap Fly - Coelopa frigida
Odiorne State Park, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
September 22, 2007
Size: didn't measure
Collected by sifting wrack deposits along the rocky coast at the annual all-taxa BioBlitz hosted by the Seacoast Science Center.

Moved
Moved from Flies.

Coelopa frigida (NH)
Coelopids are seaweed flies, and restricted to the coast. The only species of the family in NH is C. frigida to my knowledge. Note the flattened thorax.

Thanks, Matthias.
I'll pass the word along for the Bioblitz species list. BTW, I think I was told at the bioblitz that there were two species.
