Nymphuliella daeckealis? - Sufetula carbonalis

Nymphuliella daeckealis? - Sufetula carbonalis
Collier-Seminole State Park, Naples, Collier County, Florida, USA
February 17, 2018
Size: 3.7mm forewing
This appears identical to the Hodges 4753 (Nymphuliella daeckealis) that Carol Wolf listed as tentative in the MPG page. It also seems fairly good match to some of the BOLD photos.
See link to Wolf image on MPG: https://goo.gl/images/JaQyPX

Moved to Sufetula carbonalis
Moved from Crambid Snout Moths.

Tentative ID.

The image you referenced has been removed. It was a misidentified Sufetula carbonalis. It failed to show up on the species page due to a coding error. Having no way to know that there was a problem at MPG, Carol sent me a new version which is a bit brighter. On seeing that it was likely wrong, I sent it to James Hayden who corrected the identification. It now is placed at both MPG and BugGuide on the carbonalis pages.

Looks similar to that image
But different from the images on the guide page. Stenoides also came to mind, though I see you just added a few images there, so I'm sure you thought of that already.

Nymphuliella daeckealis
Thanks for looking at this. The Nymphuliella daeckealis in BOLD also show the same banded leg patterns as this moth. The Steniodes moths have been found in south Florida but in BOLD they do not have that leg feature and, even though they have a similar PM line none has the dark black color.
