Tropic Queen (Danaus eresimus) ? - Danaus gilippus - female

Tropic Queen (Danaus eresimus) ? - Danaus gilippus - Female
The Celery Fields, Sarasota County, Florida, USA
February 15, 2018

I thought it was Tropic Queen
I thought it was Tropic Queen because Audubon book showed no white spots on hind wing of gilippus - although it was a male. How did you distinguish?

Note white spots on submarginal area of forewing
which go to the trailing edge. D. eresimus lacks spots in this area. Neither species has white spots on hindwing so I expect the hindwing white areas are from scale loss.

Queen female
