Crambidia cephalica

Crambidia cephalica
Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, Sherburne County, Minnesota, USA
July 31, 2014
Size: WS 36mm
This represents a considerable reported range extension (they do happen). I've now seen this moth twice (also August 8, 2002, Crow Hassan Park Reserve) in east central MN and I believe it is of regular occurrence (two on night of 7/31). There is strong gray shading on the forewing underside (especially near the costa), but little on the hindwing. All encounters were in prairie restoration settings with adjacent deciduous woodlands.
