big black Tachinid Fly - Leschenaultia

big black Tachinid Fly - Leschenaultia
Milton, Massachusetts, USA
April 13, 2005

Moved
Moved from Tachinini.
This does look just like the Leschenaultia you referenced. You can send the keys, but I don't know how far I can go with them. I'm better at finding insects than figuring out how to key them out:-)

Leschenaultia?
This looks like the same species of Leschenaultia as these:
.

In fact, I have one in the fridge right now. Did you want links to keys for that genus? I found Brooks (1947) and Toma & GuimarĂ£es (2002) online.

Moved
Moved from Jurinia.

Tachinidae: Tachinini
Tachinidae: Tachinini...can't tell if this is Jurinia without seeing the mouthparts

Herschel
thanks for the id!

Tach
Likely Jurinia. I just took some again in early spring with the big black look and they are Jurinia. Likely only one species for you there.
