ID confrimed...
... by Jeff Skevington who wrote in a personal communication that he "...sees the blue a lot in Toxomerus photos (and other Syrphines)." It is possibly a refractive artifact of the flash.

... I had looked at Toxomerus because of the pattern on the scutellum. However, I can't find any in that genus or anywhere else that matches the abdomenal pattern. What are the species possibilities in Toxomerus?

it is clearly a Toxomerus species, but I am not sure which species. There are several Toxomerus species in FL which are not yet on BG..So it might be new for BG!
