Wolf Spider (Tigrosa spp.)? - Tigrosa georgicola

Wolf Spider (Tigrosa spp.)? - Tigrosa georgicola
O'Bannon Woods State Park, Harrison County, Indiana, USA
July 4, 2014
This large spider was running around in the rocks in a dry creek bed during the middle of the day. It rarely stopped for any length of time, making it difficult to get a good photo. The thin tan stripe running vertically from between the eyes looks very much like what I am seeing on Bugguide images of a couple of the Tigrosa genus species.

Tirgrosa georgicola
common in southern Indiana along the Ohio

............
Tigrosa annexa , although not recorded in Indiana, may very well be in counties bordering the Ohio. Look for annexa in open areas w/ short, well-manicured grass near ponds.
Trapdoor spiders are also found in Harrison County. Look for males crossing roads in September.
