Ataenius gracilis

Ataenius gracilis

Size: 3-4mm
Collected with solar panel bucket trap. Sorry for the "schmutz"; I haven't figured out a good way to clean these without damaging them.

cleaning
you can drop them for a few min to hours into 50-70% alcohol or just soapy water (lukewarm to hot, beetles take such baths well), then, if necessary, give a work-over with a paintbrush -- i use several diff. brushes variously trimmed for all sorts of cleaning tasks
synthetic (nylon?) superfine-haired brushes work best for me; you can shape the hairs any way you want using scissors and a 'curling lighter'
