Explanation of Names
Generic name Anticlea is from Greek mythology, the mother of Odysseus. (1)

Range
Throughout North America, including the arctic. Represented in Europe by other (non-North American) species.
Food
Larval food plant of A. multiferata is willow-herb [Epilobium spp.] (Ohio State U.); larval food plant of A. vasiliata is unknown (Ohio State U.).
Remarks
Anticlea was also a genus of plants in the lily family but is now considered a synonym of Zigadenus - example: Zigadenus (Anticlea) elegans is one of several species called Death Camas or Poison Camas.
