Orange moth with two black dots - Metarranthis homuraria - male

Orange moth with two black dots - Metarranthis homuraria - Male
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
March 10, 2018
This rusty orange moth had a wingspan of about 3 cm. He was somewhat difficult to photograph because his forewings were flapping over his hindwings, especially on the right. His AM line didn't make it far from the costa before disappearing. His median line was thin and dark gray and bordered cephalad by a darker band of dark orange. Between his AM and median lines, there were two black dots at about 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock. It's hard to see in the photograph, but I think there are two more black dots near the costal margins. He had light gray fringe.
