Tipulomorpha, perhaps Limoniidae

Tipulomorpha, perhaps Limoniidae
100 Acre Wood, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
June 1, 2017
Size: 9 mm
May 23, 2017: Jeremy found a (perhaps) woody gall, soft on the outside, hard on the inside about the diameter of a quarter, some dirt stuck to it. I cut it open and found a fly pupa. Put the pupa in a vial and the gall in another vial.
May 23-26, 2017: in the vial with the gall, a crane fly emerged, one wing wrong (try saying that fast)

June 1, 2017: fly pupa looks damaged also with fungal growth on it
