Andricus flavohirtus

Andricus flavohirtus
Double Trouble State Park, Ocean County, New Jersey, USA
March 12, 2018
ID by @colinpurrington on iNaturalist. " it has been found in New Jersey: Beutenmuller, W. 1914. A new Andricus from New Jersey." A lot of Quercus stellata, marilandica and alba in this park. The leaves this was on looked like marilandica or stellata. No evidence of fire in this open, old cranberry bog, but definitely along trails in pine woods area of park. This park was a big industrial logging operation (Chamaecyparis thyoides, Atlantic white cedar) before it was a cranberry farm. I saw a few of these galls along another bog in another section.
