Sometimes instead of slapping their abdomens against the water, they released a dark packet which fell into the water. Again, I apologize for the poor images. I am hoping the morph and the behavior will help narrow the choices down! Thank you so much.

Ephemeroptera
Mayflies. My guess is these are in the family Caenidae, based on the color of the wings and the small size. We would need a clearer photo to know for sure.
