Sphinx - Xylophanes tersa

Sphinx - Xylophanes tersa
Birmingham, Alabama, USA
October 2, 2007
Size: Approximately 1.4 inch
Here's one more that shows more of the backside. I'll try to get in a position to shoot it at a different angle to show the backside more. It may be a challenge in that they usually stick to areas of concealment.

The picture was taken late afternoon and as best I could tell, this caterpillar was asleep. It had a firm grip by it's hind legs and hung freely from the upper body.
