pepsis..YES
Pespis spp. yes. We have several 'tarantula Hawk' wasps in California all with the dark blue to black bodies and orange wings. Male tarantulas are also out in high numbers at this time of year because of mating season so the female wasps are on the look out to sting, paralize, lay an egg and bury one of those hairy giants. Tarantulas are not uncommon in the hills of San Benito county.
