Moth with gray eyes - Psaphida electilis

Moth with gray eyes - Psaphida electilis
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
March 25, 2018
This was a gray moth with a length of about 5 cm and length about 2 cm. Both sides of his neck had large light gray patches and bordered a black basal line that looped slightly underneath them. The AM line was jagged and met the basal line about halfway between the costal borders and inner margin. Under the AM lines he had two light gray orbicular spots that were lined with black. Right above the anal angle he had what looked like the outline of a black bird, the bottom of which met a jagged PM line. He looks somewhat like Hodges 2694 – Little Carpenterworm Moth – Prionoxystus macmurtrei, but the gray patches on the neck and black-line design above the anal angle make me doubt that. He also looks like Hodges 10020 – Psaphida thaxterianus.
