Notiobia cyanippa (Bates, 1882) rec. n. USA
This Notiobia cyanippa (Bates, 1882) along with a few other Arizona specimens posted by CW Melton, represent new records for USA, an extension from its known range in central Mexico. These specimens fit well the two examples at the Milwaukee Public Museum determined by GR Noonan, that is, gena wide, pronotum with rounded hind angles, dark purplish elytra, ABL 11 mm, macropterous (although hind wings can also be vestigial), and prominent spine filling the penile ostium. Records are added to the post-2012 caraboid registry.
