Tibicen? - Megatibicen auletes - Male
Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
September 8, 2007
Size: ~60mm
I took this image on my front porch at night. Measurement of the brick that the cicada is resting on is 66mm.

Tibicen auletes
The heavy coating of whitish powder, especially on the tip of the abdomen, is characteristic of this species. Measurements based on the width of the brick give a head width of 17 mm, which is pretty close to the maximum head width of 16 mm for this species.

Great!
Thanks Andy! Their song is unmistakable as I've been hearing them most of my life.
