Crematogaster - Crematogaster crinosa

Crematogaster - Crematogaster crinosa
Santa Ana NWR, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA

Always wanted to put an ID on this nice image! Spent some time with the key with a specimen of my own and nailed down the traits a bit better - the short propodeal spines and squarish head along with the longitudinal striations clearly visible on the pronotum point to this species. Nice find! I collected a fair bit of them both of the last times I was in the LRGV, so it seems pretty common locally but not found any northwards.

Moved from Acrobat Ants.

Excellent
Thanks Steven! Much appreciated! Glad these little gals have a name.

Southern Crematogaster
Seems to be either rifelna or ashmeadi
