Kingston, Roane County, Tennessee, USA
March 29, 2018
Size: 3"
Found by my 5yr old son on a gray morning with some light sprinkles going on. Heading through the grass towards the sidewalk. When he showed it to me it had made its way to the side of the slab and was tucked in a crack beside it, only visible because my son knew where to look. Used a little twig to slide it out for a good look. When I allowed it to crawl across my hand it left a scent behind similar to perhaps almond flavoring? No I didn't let my son hold it, and yes I scrubbed my hands (and his just in case) very well afterward. It has three rows of yellow dots on top, and yellow legs underneath. Currently it's in a temporary container so we can show Daddy this afternoon. Just moved here, never saw one of these elsewhere. Not really finding the same markings on the ones I've found on the internet so far.

Moved from ID Request.

I believe the shape, location and color pattern most likely place it here, but there may be others.

Xystodesmidae
A millipede in family Xystodesmidae. In your area a few species are superficially similar. They mimic each other with a yellow and black color pattern.
