maybe
a young corn earworm? See this site

How do we tell
Corn earworms from Tobacco budworms? In Wagner, pg 396 and 397 these look much more like tobaccos, and not at all like corn earworms, but then he talks about looking at them microscopically!

A decade later...
A note from Jerry Fauske (25 March 2015): "The larva #15050 which I believe is H. phloxiphaga- based on comparing it to larva pics in Hardwick’s Monograph of the Heliothentinae. The placement and size of the black tubercles is pretty diagnostic. While the immature stage of H. acesias are largely unknown, the pupa is apparently like H. oregonica which would lead me to believe that the larva might not be similar to that of H. phloxiphaga." --passed on my Carl D. Barrentine
