White lined moth - Baileya doubledayi

White lined moth - Baileya doubledayi
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
April 22, 2018
This was a brownish gray owlet-shaped moth. His head was rusty and dark brown. His thorax was light tan and rimmed on the left and right with a white band. Inside this tan area there was a trapazoid shape with the shorter side medially. The longer side, which seemed to be a part of the basal line, was darker brown, cephalad, and had two dark brown spots at each end. Below the white bands surrounding the thorax was dark brown shading, lighter toward the costal margins. Below the brown shading basally, there was a white patch that had the shape of a puzzle piece. The AM line was darker on the costa and then was wavy to the posterior margin. The median line was also darker at the costa and wavy to the posterior margin and had a white band running parallel caudally. Below this white band there was a wide dark brown band which had a darker puzzle shaped patch posteriorly toward the inner margin. Above the PM line there was a white orbicular spot (more of a teardrop on the left forewing) with a dark reniform spot inside it. The PM line was white and looped upward from the costa and continued fairly straight to the posterior margin. There was a dark brown shadow that started about halfway on the PM line and continued to the apices. The terminal line was a series of closely spaced gray dashes. His apices had a smudge of dark orange. He had light gray fringe.
