White and gold chain moth - Glyphodes pyloalis

White and gold chain moth - Glyphodes pyloalis
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
April 22, 2018
This was a white moth with brown and gold markings. He had a brown collar that extended down the inner margin about 30% on his forewings. His AM line was thick and tan with darker brown on the outside borders. Just below that he had a brown orbicular spot adjacent to the costa. He had two large brown square patches on white on his forewings. The top half of the square contains a white puzzle piece shape. The lower left corner has a white orbicular spot with a central dark brown spot, like a bull's eye. The lower right corner of the square has what appears to be a white infinity symbol. Below the brown square patch, there is a wide white band that gets wider toward the costa. His PM line extends from the costa where it is thick all the way to the inner margin on the hindwings. Under that there is a somewhat broad white line that traverses the width of the forewings. With his wings spread, as in the photo, it appears to turn into a thin dark brown line on the hindwings. He has very pronounced white apical streaks that extend from the aforementioned white line down to almost the outer margin, surrounded by some black shading at the tips. On his outer margin there seems to be a broad band of white shading. I'm not sure about the terminal line and fringe because he was photographed on a light bulb and shadowing from that made ascertaining details difficult. His thorax and abdomen are visible the entire length with gold rings.
