Rust and black moth - Metalectra richardsi

Rust and black moth - Metalectra richardsi
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
April 24, 2018
This was a rust and brown moth. His wingspan was about 1.5 cm. He had a black patch centered over his thorax and on viewing from the side there appeared to be a bump or tuft of scales there. His AM line was a hardly discernable chain of black splotches. His median(?) line was very black and slightly scalloped, angling up towards the head just before it reached the costa. His PM line from the costa took a big swoop down and around two large light tan orbicular spots. His subterminal(?) line appeared to be ill-defined and white. His terminal line appeared to be multi-layered in this order from the head: black scallops, light tan dashes, spots of orange, and vague gray dashes. He had orangish black fringe. He had a large light tan spot on his abdomen at the PM line level with an upside down chevron(?) at the top portion. He also had a VERY DISTINCTIVE ring of brown near the tip of his abdomen. He wouldn't cooperate with a good photo. Sorry about the angle.
