Cacopsylla curta
a good rule of thumb for distinguishing Triozidae from all the other psyllids is the wing venation; in triozids the 3 main veins intersect at a single point, and the pterostigma is absent, like so:


Compare to typical Cacopsylla (Psyllidae) venation:


C. curta in particular is typical of a complex of very similar willow-feeding species, 8 of which are found in California. C. curta is the most common of these species along the coast, and can be distinguished by the others by the presence of minute setae covering the wing membrane (in other species, these setae are confined mostly to the radular areas.
