Woody Angle Moth - Macaria multilineata

Woody Angle Moth - Macaria multilineata
Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama, USA
April 17, 2018
This was an orangish brown moth that had a yellow head. He had a small dark brown dot on each side of his thorax. His basal line was thin and squiggly. Just above it, he had two light gray orbicular spots. At the origin of his AM line on the costa, there were two brown hash marks. From there, it continued to the inner margin. His median line was dark brown, wide, and bold at the costa. Then it continued very straight to the posterior margin where it angled down onto the hindings and continued to the inner margin. At his apices were two broad dirty gray streaks. His PM line was likewise dark brown and wider at the costa. Then it continued faintly to the posterior margin where it angled down on the hindwings and continued, like a dark crease, to the inner margin. His terminal line was brown and very thin. His fringe consisted of three layers in this order from the terminal line - yellow, dark orange, yellow. On his abdomen there were three rows of two dots. He reminded me somewhat of an ironed and pressed Friendly Probole - Hodges#6838 (Probole amicaria).
