This specimen was large - like 2 inches or so. It was the largest insect that came to my blacklight station last night. I am questioning the "ant" identification knowing full well I am likely wrong.

Males can be well over an inch long.

Thanks again. I think you are correct. I think it is probably Neivamyrmex swainsonii The other images in this species are very close to what I saw.

I am sure it was larger than 1 1/2 inches. It was big.
