Megachile mucida on Lupinus diffusus - Megachile mucida

Megachile mucida on Lupinus diffusus - Megachile mucida
Carolina Sandhills NWR, McBee, Chesterfield County, South Carolina, USA
April 29, 2018
Size: 20 mm
Last year I photographed this species at a distance in the North Carolina Game Lands, nectaring on this same Lupine species. I am always checking the lupines for butterflies in April and I have had 2 sightings of a large bee with a pollen-covered abdomen nectaring on the lupines. This bee only gave me a brief look before flying away.
