This is NOT M. elegans.
John Morgan brought this record to my attention thinking that it is M. kimballi. He is correct! M. elegans has a thick solid distal border to the ST line that is straight and doesn't bend at the costa. M. minor is usually much more gray and white, not brown like this moth; many kimballi are extensively brown. M. kimballi also has smaller dark blotches along the IM, and the median line often connects from the costa to the basal side of the ST, which can be seen in this moth.
