Fly? - Pelecinobaccha costata

Fly? - Pelecinobaccha costata
North Carolina, USA
September 26, 2013
Sorry the image is so fuzzy - the fly? was very small. I saw it on a trip to Highlands, NC. We hiked up a mountain (I don't remember the name now) so it was at a fairly high elevation. Thinking it might be some kind of fly, I was struck with how pretty it was. Although I was able to get a shot on someone's finger, it was especially attracted to the color black - mostly my camera, so kind of hard to get the shot! It also hung around for quite awhile.

Thanks so much for the ID - glad I got to see this little creature!
